Catalane cuisine:

To taste Catalane cuisine, it is not complicated, because it is based on olive oil, garlic and sun: here are principal ingredients of the Catalan food! One finds several origins there, with phenicians influences, Greek and Roman. The Catalans are not afraid to mix sweet and salty ingredients, they have their own pork-butchery, like for example the famous botifera (a black roll prepared with pigmeat mixed with blood, its believed ham and its fuet). Here are some dishes not to be missed when you are in Catalonia: - Pa amb tomàquet: rubbed tomato and garlic bread, recovered with olive oil and salted. Botifarra with dry beans and coasts of lamb grillées. Calçotada: new onions cooked, entirely “uncapped” and soaked in the famous romesco sauce. - Romesco: it is a sauce of Tarragone, made of tomatos,fried bread and grilled almonds. Cava: A Catalan champagne, a semi-sparkling wine , very pleasant to drink, It has Several names: Raïmat, Freixenet and Codorniu'. - Tapas:Impossible not to go in one tapas Bar when you are in Catalonia: In those bars, you stand up, eating your tapas, and drink a glass of wine. The Catalans like to meet there and you always can have something to eat, the atmosphere is very friendly and relax, and tapas bars  are always less formal than the restaurants.

Sardane: The sardane is the Catalan national dance, which takes its origins in the area of Empord. Contrary to flamenco, the sardane is a simple and sober dance. If you want a demonstration of Sardane, go next to the cathedral of Barcelona on Sundays towards 12h00, or plaça sant Jaume I at 18h30.

The ambiance in catalonia: You might have come to Spain and more especially to the area of Catalonia for the sun and rest, but it may be that you succumb to the temptation of clubbing: Catalonia is an area where one does not sleep, who is in always in parties, whether it is festivals, religious festivals, in the villages, but also in Barcelona, where the nightlife is more than developed! Here, no one sleeps!
